Pirates Show No Fatigue, Defeat Underdogs 137-78
Published on 1.17.22

The Providence Pirates took to their home court on Sunday, January 16, 2022, taking on the NY Harlem Underdogs. The Pirates showed no fatigue from their matchup with Worcester just the day before as they blew out Harlem by a final victory margin of 59 points. Providence now stands 7-2 among the best in the Northeast Region.

What Happened -

The Pirates started the game firing on all cylinders, never missing a beat from their rout of Worcester just 24 hours earlier. In an all too familiar tale, the Pirates were led in scoring by star player Tom Garrick Jr. as he notched yet another Player of the Game award behind his 30 point, 7 rebound, and 7 assist performance. Other notable performances include guard Shane DaRosa and center Kevin Briggs who combined for 45 points of offense (23 and 22 respectively). Briggs made the most of his size as he puled down 11 rebounds and blocked five shots. DaRosa, on the other hand, showed his ability to make a play assisting on six makes on generating two steals. Newcomer Michael Rodrigues hauled in an impressive 13 rebounds in his second game for Providence. Rodrigues is showing flashes of the paint presence Pirates coaches hope he can be. Providence now stands at 7-2 and can surely expect to find themselves among the top of the Northeast Region in this week's rankings.

Turning Point -
The turning point of this game was the focus the Pirates players were able to show on the second night of a back to back. The Pirates were ready to play and it showed as they never let this game get close.
