Pirates take down the Maine Bulldogs 122-78; Move to 1-0.

October 30, 2023 (Providence, RI) - In an electrifying showdown at the Boys and Girls Club of Pawtucket last night, the Pirates started their season with a blowout win against the visiting Maine Bulldogs. The final score, 122-78, had the home team's fans excited for what is to come for the Pirates.

Mayor Grebien attended our home opener against the Maine Bulldogs. First and foremost, our thoughts are with the victims, their family and their friends. We held a moment of silence for all those who have been affected by the tragedy in Lewiston, Maine.

Our Player of the Game was Joshua Winbush! Josh led the way for the Pirates scoring 23 points with 10 rebounds 3 blocks while shooting 11-11 from the field. Winbush also continuously got air and was seen soaring and slamming dunks. After the game we talked to Josh and how he felt playing in his first ABA Basketball game, “It was very nerve wracking, I was honestly nervous. I’m glad we got the dub and I could perform the way I did.”

Tom Garrick Jr, Shane DeRosa and Michael Mendes all also played very important roles in the Pirates win. The trio scored with ease on the Maine defense accounting for 59 points. The Pirates will look for that type of production nightly from Garrick Jr, DeRosa and Mendes to continue their success.
