What Happened -

An improved Bennington team competed closer with Providence in the opening minutes when compared to the previous matchups between these teams. Bennington showed lots of energy in a high scoring affair. The Martens however could not sustain their level of play as the Pirates began to gradually pull away and hold a large lead for the better part of this game. Tom Garrick Jr. found himself as Player of the Game in one of his most impressive performances yet. He scored an impressive 44 points to go along with nine rebounds and three steals. Shane DaRosa was on fire from three all night long finishing with 33 points and 10 rebounds. Center Kevin Briggs missed most of the first half after an inadvertent hand to the face but played in the second half to provide Providence with the big man presence they needed. Despite their deficit Bennington never folded and remained competitive and physical throughout the game.

Turning Point -

The turning point of this game was early in the first half when tensions rose between these two teams A heated exchange between players led to coaches and officials separating the two sides. Coming out of it, however, Providence led by Tom Garrick Jr. used it to fuel themselves as they went on a run which was capped off by an emphatic dunk by Garrick Jr. The Pirates never looked back from this and cruised to a victory from that point on.
