Pirates suffers a loss in first ever home game.

"The Pirates Thursday celebrated their first ever home game, right at the Johnston Rec Center, with in front of the home crowd, where only 40 fans and select media personnel, due to Covid regulations. The Pirates took  the court against the Eighteen XVC out of Massachusetts, and the game was a fight from the very start. Pirates started the game with consecutive 3pt makes from Avery King in the first quarter followed by a highlight reel alley-up by Dexter Thompson assisted by Will Leviton. In the second quarter Pirates began getting into foul trouble and Eighteen XCV capitalized on that to get the lead going into the half.

Pirates started the third quarter with a couple fast break buckets by Tyree Robinson and Armani Baker to cut the lead to single digits. However, Eighteen XCV's Mike Rodriguez (Southern Illinois) has too much to offer and put his team on his back with several key plays to keep the Pirates in distance and Pirates fell short to Eighteen XCV in home opener. Other top performers of the night for the Pirates were: Camren Menefee with 15 points, while Anthony Parker, Avery King and Sayvonn Houston each netted 11 points each, where Houston added 8 rebounds to his performance. Look for the pirates to take the court this Saturday, March 27 against the New Hampshire Rockets in a great rematch of their first contest from a month ago, where Pirates fell short by only one point.
