Pirates fall to the NY Hoop Dragons 96-91; Move to 2-1.

The Pirates hit the road for this time this season, headed to Dix Hills, NY to take on the NY Hoop Dragons. With the Pirates missing two top big-men, they had a tall task against a great NY Hoop Dragons team. This game was very highly anticipated throughout the ABA and it didn't disappoint. The Hoop Dragons eventually bested the Pirates by the score of 96-91.

The Pirates went into halftime up 10 points but could never pull away from the Hoop Dragons. The team shot poorly from beyond the arch only hitting 9/31 three pointers which isn't going to cut it against a team like the Hoop Dragons. Later in the game, NY went on two huge runs in the 4th quarter and took the lead with just under 4 minutes left in the game. The Hoop Dragons took advantage of the injuries to the Pirates and dished out the first loss for the Pirates this season.

Tom Garrick Jr had a team and game high 36 points while grabbing 8 rebounds as he continues his dominance to begin the season for the Pirates.

Our Player of the Game was Kevin Briggs! Briggs led the way for the Pirates scoring 16 points with 16 rebounds and 10 blocks. Briggs was a force all game on the glass and played a critical role on the offense for the Pirates. Missing two of their bigs, Briggs had to step up on the glass. His efforts were great, but missing Josh Winbush and Michael Mendes ended up being too much for the Pirates to overcome.
