Pirates Sign 3 Players

The Providence Pirates announce today that they have signed three free agents to their roster. Players Kevin Briggs (F, 7'0, Providence, RI) Tommy Garrick Jr. (G, 6'4, Seekonk, MA), and Shane DaRosa (G, 6'0, Pawtucket, RI).

 

Tommy Garrick Jr. (left image), is from Seekonk, MA and played college basketball for Johnson & Wales University in Rhode Island where he thrived on both ends of the floor. Garrick Jr., a former Pirates competitor has now joined his local team to add an immediate impact on both ends of the game. 

 

Kevin Briggs (middle image), a former college star at ASA Miami is a basketball journeymen. Who has played professionally all around the world. His size and basketball experience will be a great addition to the Providence Pirates roster. 

 

Shane DaRosa (right image), the exciting and highly anticipated guard will be making his Providence Pirates debut this year. DaRosa, a Pawtucket, RI native, returns to his home state to add instant offense to the Pirates roster. Before his signing with the Pirates, DaRosa was playing basketball overseas in Portugal, Spain, for the Cape Verde National Selection team and in the A.B.A. There DaRosa averaged an impressive 20 points per game and 6 assists to go along with his 47% 3-point shooting. DaRosa will likely add a great amount of playmaking and shooting to the Pirates roster.

Pirates Hosted The Final Player Combine on September 11th in Johnston, RI

This past Saturday on September 11th, the Pirates hosted their second and final combine of the 2021 season. Players that attended the combine were made up of returning players, player that were asked to come back for the first combine, and several new faces hoping to make the training camp roster. 

The combine was held at the Johnston Rec Center located in Johnston, RI. At the combine the players went through a variety of physical measurements, fundamental drills, game scenarios, and short scrimmages. These drills were used to help the organization evaluate each individual's talent as best as possible.

The Pirates front office is now tasked to select the number of players from the combine worthy enough to be added to the training camp roster. The roster should be announced within the next week.
